I had been humming and hawing about it for months beforehand {sometimes it takes me forever to actually do something once I get an idea}. Once I committed to starting a Society6 shop, I took a couple weeks to get my head around some designs and ideas. Not to mention trying to make them resemble something semi-internet-worthy. I wanted to create stuff I loved. It ultimately sounds quite selfish, but I found myself designing things I’d love to see and use in our own home. This is where I’m excited and apprehensive. Because I like them, and that makes me sound like a jerk, and that also makes them personal? {side note – work on developing thicker skin}.
I’d like to introduce you to my small collection of stuff, Made by A!
So far I have six design ranges …
- BLACK, WHITE AND BURGUNDY – a few of my favourite things
- SUNSET – and yes that is a real life Dublin sunset
- BRUSH STROKES – inspired by my favourite painting in our living room that I painted {but yeesh, those old pictures are horrible. Please be kind}
- LET THEM EAT – one of my favourite Instagram pics of a black forrest gateau hubby got me when I returned from Blogtacular
- DAINTY SKULLS – a teeny, pretty skull pattern which I wanted to paint inside the bedside table I made over, but couldn’t, so here it is on Society6
- FOG – an ode to forever wanting to live in a Tim Burton movie
All the above mentioned ranges are available in a number of home accessories. From shower curtains to rugs to mugs to pillows to clocks. Oh, and canvas tote bags. Because I have about a 50 of them already and clearly need more.
The cogs are turning and I have a few new ideas in the works that I’d like to add. Ahh! I LOVE all of it. Fantastic work. I just can't get over "Let Them Eat" I want one of everything in it…how stinking cute is that on a pillow?!
Absolutely amazing!!! Honestly, I am so impressed – these are great! I'm struggling to pick my favourite – love the atmospheric 'Fog', and 'Sunset' is so pretty. 'Brush Strokes' is very striking, and it's cool to see that familiar painting in different formats (familiar from your blog – I don't break into your flat when you're at work, hanging out, looking at your painting!)
I think 'Let Them Eat' might just be my favourite, though – it is perfection. Just the way the picture captures just the right amount of the gateau – the rest hidden off shot. It looks so real and mouthwatering too – so 3D! The proportion of white against gateau on the cushion and the tote is just spot on – and those few little chocolate crumbs – wabi sabi at it's best!! Love it!!

OMG YOU GET MORE AWESOME BY THE DAY!! Seriously, I have a massive girl crush on you right now. Well I did before but it's heightened it. (That's not embarrassing to admit right? Oh god it is isn't it. Crap.) The brush strokes one is fab, I love the pink skulls, I love the Let Them Eat image – holy crap. I want that brush strokes rug for reals. So so exciting and not selfish at all that you made what you love – erm, isn't that the point? 😉 xxx
