In my inbox – tiled hydrangea graffiti

How insane in the membrane are these tiles? Yep. Tiles. The lovely Rebekka of Rebekka Sauerdough sent me these pictures of tiled hydrangea graffiti she stumbled upon while in Lisbon, and man, are they beautiful. They were found on the side of a house, and I don’t think anyone would object to this kind of graffiti taking up residence on their property.
Rebekka sent them my way as she knew of my slightly psychotic fascination and obsession love of hydrangeas, and of course, I couldn’t not share these absolute beauts.

I tried to find more info on them via the google machine, but massive sad face. I couldn’t find anything. There is a signature on the bottom of the vase, but it’s illegible. These silhouetted tiles are made with such painful detail, I’d love to know more. Are they once-off pieces? Were they made for someone specific? Or as a memorial? Was this just a test tile project, and no one knew where else to put them? I need to know more. Five minutes ago.
When I grow up and have a house, you can be sure as shit my bathroom will be adorned in the likes. Two of my favourite things, mashed into one. And of course, thanks again Rebekka 🙂 xx A

Sneak peek – IKEA Family Live feature

I’m going to jump the gun and do the thing you’re not supposed to do. I know divulging such information so early will probably give me luck much on par with smashing several mirrors, but feck it. I cannot contain my excitement. A couple of weeks ago I opened my e-mail one afternoon and there sitting in my inbox … was an e-mail from IKEA Family Live. Heart palpitation central.

They were looking to feature our apartment on their online magazine. Emily Westbrooks of From China Village recommended our home {so many gushy feelings were sent in her direction. I hope they reached you, Em!}, IKEA Family Live checked out my website, liked what they saw and got in contact. Lots of excitement and chaos ensued in the general region of my face over the following days.

I had a week to photograph our apartment, complete the write up and send in all the deets. It was a bit tough as that week we had next to no sunshine. Not to mention I had to include a photo of myself. Which reminds me – thank you sooo much to those of you who left the sweetest comments in response to my seriously hairy level of self doubt re: selfies. You sure know how to make a gal feel better.
Our home will be the November Member {lolz, I’m so immature} feature on the IKEA Family Live site, so there’s a bit of time between now and then for the dust to settle and for me to get excited about it all over again. It’ll feature some exclusive pictures of our home that I am typically too afraid to photograph. In the mean time, I urge you to check out Emily’s lovely home which was featured as the July IKEA Family Live member, and not to mention her uber fun website
Happy Monday homies! xx A

Safe and sound

Seven days after wrapping, hugging and sending off Hilda’s hydrangea painting Stateside, I’m happy to say it arrived safely to its new owner! Barbara sent me this lovely picture of her and her handsome feline friend Smokey, who Barb admitted, doesn’t look too impressed with her new painting {lord knows how much my cats dis my stuff!}. But us humans know when to appreciate a good hydrangea painting when we see one. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – very jealous of your winnings Barb.

And best of luck on the epic task that is deciding on how to frame that beauty! Shadow box? Add matting? Black, or dare I say a colour frame? A charity shop revamp job? Decisions, decisions … 😉 xx A
