House creeping in Ottawa

One of my favourite things to do, to the quiet yet unmistakably simmering frustration of Robert, is to stop every 20 meters and carefully look at a house or building on our route somewhere. I don’t always take photos, but I love looking at houses. Especially houses with a lot of detail or can’t be figured out right away. The more gingerbread, the higher pitch my squeal …

What about you? Are you a fellow house-creeper? Or do you know someone who’s an adamant house-creeper and it bothers you? Speaking as one, I do apologize. But also know that it’s not going to stop us.

I love looking at houses. Like the older ones with character but small neat bungalows and big mansions are fun too. I’m not big on contemporary. I’ll just go right on by them.

I’m the exact same! I love looking at all kinds of houses. New-builds can be interesting, but for the most part, I find they don’t nearly have as much character. It’s the older interesting ones that always stop me.

Ottawa is such a great place to do this. I used to love it there. Here has far less brick and stone. A rarity.

Wow I would love to walk around some of those neighbourhoods… I might just end up scrolling through the Canadian version of “Rightmove”. Thanks for sharing your stair making tips. I’m renovating a house and though it’s a different scale and design you’ve clued me in. I have a idea of how to start!
