Mini makeover – coffee table tray, round 3. No … 4

Me and coffee table tray have been through a lot these past years. Coffee table tray was originally au naturel. Wood-on-wood was too much meh for one table, so I first painted it light greyish blue. That changed quickly to all Winegum, but since we also had blackboard walls at the time it was all a bit dark, so I spray painted the tray all white
Coffee table tray served us well in white. It was cheery, but if I’m honest, boring as hell. I wanted Winegum back in my life, so this week I thought why not have the best of both? I added Winegum back into the mix, but just to the inside of the tray. And I must say, I think it looks well swank and sophisticated. I simply used masking tape along the top and handles then sprayed the inside.

I’m quite happy with this combo so I don’t foresee me attacking poor coffee table tray again for a good while. So what about you guys – do you have a particular thing in your home you’re constantly changing?
Before I forget, happy Saturday friends! It’s sunny here in Dublin which = BBQ and beverages. I hope your weekend is full of char-grilled delights and a tall glass of beer / wine / G&T / all of the above. xx A

In my inbox – tiled hydrangea graffiti

How insane in the membrane are these tiles? Yep. Tiles. The lovely Rebekka of Rebekka Sauerdough sent me these pictures of tiled hydrangea graffiti she stumbled upon while in Lisbon, and man, are they beautiful. They were found on the side of a house, and I don’t think anyone would object to this kind of graffiti taking up residence on their property.
Rebekka sent them my way as she knew of my slightly psychotic fascination and obsession love of hydrangeas, and of course, I couldn’t not share these absolute beauts.

I tried to find more info on them via the google machine, but massive sad face. I couldn’t find anything. There is a signature on the bottom of the vase, but it’s illegible. These silhouetted tiles are made with such painful detail, I’d love to know more. Are they once-off pieces? Were they made for someone specific? Or as a memorial? Was this just a test tile project, and no one knew where else to put them? I need to know more. Five minutes ago.
When I grow up and have a house, you can be sure as shit my bathroom will be adorned in the likes. Two of my favourite things, mashed into one. And of course, thanks again Rebekka 🙂 xx A

Kitty corner

This weekend I gave some special attention to our kitties. To wind it back a bit, it all started with a cross stitch. I’ve wanted for years to create a little something for our cats and hang it down low; for their visual purposes only. All the fancy stuff doesn’t have to be hung up high for human benefit.
Their previous feeding spot was a bit meh. They had some cheeky bowls which I heart very much, but they didn’t fit in with anything and it was time for a change. I set my budget low, and aimed to makeover their space for under €20.

I picked up this frame for €8 from Dunnes Stores, a little serving tray for €5 at Tesco, two vintage glass bowls for €1 each at the Merchants Market and I had an existing white water bowl which was a perfect fit. I will be the first to say, the above looks incredibly cute and I wouldn’t mind keeping them like this {I know Maria and Janine will agree!}, but I wanted more of a bespoke feel, and you know me – I can’t leave anything alone.
I spray painted the frame with my all time fav, ‘winegum’ spraypaint from Montana. The tray got a lot more attention and was a challenge I set myself. With some Montana goldchrome spray paint, a bit more winegum paint and a Sharpie, I was able to magic up a pimpin’ leopard print tray. Perfect for any inner wild cat.

I’m really happy with how this little project turned out. And all for under €20. All kinds of winning. And more importantly, kittehs approve. xx A
