You’re only a day away

Tomorrow, my bridesmaid’s and I are hitting up the Westin Hotel in the Dublin city center for ‘A Most Peculiar Afternoon Tea‘ in the Atrium Lounge. I’ve been looking forward to it for about two months. Check out the menu below, and feel free to be jealous, because I am, and I’m going …

Gin and tonic served in a teapot? You had me at ‘G’.

The four of us have conflicting schedules at the best of times, so it’s taken us months to organize this. I’m so excited it’s distracting me from my work today. This is my first afternoon tea, and probably my perfect afternoon tea, considering I don’t like tea … for shame. Earlier this month I posted this video perfectly summarizing how I feel about tea.

I will be sure to post pics of tomorrows antics. If all goes well, I’d like this to be my ‘age appropriate, neutral and unoffensive’ hen / bachelorette party in the coming months. With more sinister happenings afterwards, of course. Happy Friday all 🙂

Blooming amazing

I first heard of flowering tea from a dear friend of mine in Canada. She told me about it this time last year, and I immediately YouTubed it / them. I checked it out, and it looked awesome. That all got filled in my memory bank.

Set the scene to present day, and our wedding seems to be delicately gathering a theme of tea. I want to smother every surface in old tea cups with big old dark hydrangeas. And what pops into my head a couple of weeks ago? The idea to have this unusual and unique flowering tea as a little gift at everyone’s place setting for our big day.

I found Solaris Botanicals, a company in Ireland that sells a variety flowering tea – perfection! And they’re incredibly nice and helpful people – even better {thanks for all your help, Priya!}. So I ordered a couple test rounds, and my first mission for my bridesmaids was issued – try it out and see if it would be a quality enough {and unusual enough} parting gift. See below an example of flowering tea in action …

We of course tried one out ourselves. Fiance really enjoyed the taste of it, and made it quite strong, since he likes his regular tea to the point of stripping paint, with an eye-dropper of milk.
So what do you think? Does flowering tea sound like a cute and quirky alternative to the usual wedding souveneir? Or does it sound naff as hell and you couldn’t stomach the idea of trying it? Let me know what you think, just a click away below. Of course, you can further let me know in the comments box below.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF ‘FLOWERING TEA’ AS A WEDDING SOUVENIER – YAY OR NAY?
Sounds cool and unusual – do it!
Not my cup of tea

Putting a ring on it

My dad bought this book for fiance for his birthday earlier this year – Putting a Ring On It – What not to do when attempting to get married by Jarlath Regan. It’s pretty amazing, and self explanatory. Well worth the investment.
I’m sure Jarlath won’t mind me sharing one of my favorites …

This tasty number can be found about 6 pages deep. A very suiting comic considering a similar situation happened between fiance and my dad a number of years ago {not proposing related though}. I have a sneaking suspicion said story will arise during the speeches on our wedding day. Dad, if you’re reading this, all I have to say is – remember there will be children present.
Recently, fiance and I have been feeling the full effect of weddingitous. For the past five weekends, we have been non stop organizing appointments and meeting up with people {who were all lovely, for the record}, but I am exhausted. I was supposed to take yesterday off and slip into a delicate coma on my couch, smothered in cats, but that didn’t happen.

Here’s a picture of Juniper to break up my rant a bit. Here she’s ‘helping’ me with some of our most important wedding forms.

I am fully aware that planning a wedding is quite the time-suck {especially if you don’t eat gold and have the luxury of hiring a wedding co-ordinator}, but this recent surge in wedding stuff is invading my downtime a little too much. Especially considering we still have 6 months to go! But the six month mark tends to be where everything kicks off. I suppose it would be worse if I hadn’t researched the shit out of everything to date.
To add to the stress, I haven’t crafted in over a month, and that equals a not so happy Alex. All I see is a four day weekend ahead of me, and I have a happy feeling in my chest. I can’t wait to craft the hell out of the Easter weekend. </rant>
