Lovely layers

This is something I’ve been doing for a couple of years. While in college, I was forever ordering wallpaper samples. Most of them I wanted to keep forever, so in a bid to look less like a crazy hoarder, I put my favorite wallpaper samples to good use, along with some of my favorite things.

Above, is an album of wild flowers my grandmother posted me when I was little {I also framed her letter}. It’s full of cards that she collected from cigarette packets, each detailing a different wild flower in Ireland. This was my first layered frame, and still my fav.

This little number is of course, a hydrangea. It was salvaged off of a bouquet of hydrangeas from my parents garden last summer {below}. It kept me company for many weeks.

This is a ticket I kept from when we were on holidays in Tunisia two years ago. We were miles from anywhere, in the Sahara, at one of the original Star Wars sets. There {thank god} were toilets at this remote attraction. The men – could go use the facilities for free. Women, had to pay. I’m not a feminist, but I became one in Tunisia. I kept it as a cheeky reminder, and luckily had the perfect frame.

And this is some lace I brought back from Brugge {or Bruges} in Belgium. I scoured charity shops for weeks to find the right frame, and eventually my patience paid off.
If you have any small pieces of wallpaper, or paper of any kind that catches your eye, why not layer it up? Most good wallpaper sites allow you to order samples for free {just have to pay the s&h / postage}. So if you have a particularly sentimental piece you’d like to frame, this is an alternative way to jazz it up.

I want it now – Temair throw

I bookmarked this little piece of heaven on the Lion Brand Yarn website close to 3 years ago. And I still think it’s amazing. The crocheted Temair Throw makes me think all kinds of fancy. When we own a home of our own, I see us having a sassy chaise lounge, and I could drape this mother right over it. This picture gives me a warm fuzzy feeling about the future. I know, that probably sounds silly. But I think it’s stunning, and the fact that the pattern is labelled as ‘intermediate’ gives me some hope.
In other news, I hope you all had a lovely Easter weekend! I’m planning on sitting down and spending my Bank Holiday Monday crocheting with the company of Steel Magnolias and other such classics. Crafting posts soon to come, I promise. Happy BH Monday 🙂

Tea time delight

It began as what was meant to be a quick stop at our local home and garden center to pick up a light bulb. After I picked up said item, I took the scenic route to the tills, and low and behold, what did I cross, but a load of  hydrangea clad ceramics. I couldn’t just leave without one. That would be rude.

Look at them go. Oh I stood there and admired them for what was probably way too long, and took several grainy pictures. They’re meant for aesthetic decorative reasons, but I knew the smallest jar could find a good home in our kitchen to store fiance’s tea. As much as I post about tea cups, I actually hate tea. I just like the cups. I guess I could be compared to one of those people who reads the book after they see the movie. That made more sense in my head.
Also, I saw this potted hydrangea in the garden section and just woah – look at the size of the petals! Hopefully you’ll get an idea of the size by my hand. Attack of the monster hydrangea. If I didn’t unintentionally murder every plant that came into my care, I would have swiped one.
