House and Home – #PetsAndPieces

Back in May, House and Home called out on Instagram for people to share their #PetsAndPieces – showcasing our furry friends alongside [or in my case, on] our favourite furniture and pieces around our home. I couldn’t resist, so I tagged this photo of Juniper, among others.

Fast forward to present day, and who did I find looking up at me in the current House and Home magazine? Only just our little Juniper! …

“Alex, The Interior DIYer’s mischievous cat Juniper,
hanging out on the shelf.”

Thank you Anna for including our fur baby! I couldn’t resist sharing Juniper’s little feature here as well, as I already shared it elsewhere online. That curious face kills me every time. I also couldn’t resist sharing for the sake of a hashtag – #MyPussyIsOnPage6 – not many people get to write that while keeping their dignity wholly intact. Happy Friday, friends!

My Style – House and Home

Is today ever a happy Friday. This week I got my mitts on the new House and Home magazine, which = double excitement all up in here. Back in May my OCD finally paid off when I was asked to not only write but style the feature for the July / August copy of the magazine. Um, hell yes.
I’ve done some styling here and there but this would be my printed styling debut. To say I was bricking it was an understatement, but the moment I met Michelle and Andy, my mind was put at ease. They are the coolest and most down to earth couple, not to mention they’re crazy-talented with their thriving typographical printing business – DesignMyType. I had a great afternoon with them in their quirky, colourful and fun apartment.

Stylin’ on so many levels. I snapped this cheeky pic of myself on the day, which to my surprise, managed to sneak onto page 8 of the mag!

You can pick up the July / August copy of House and Home magazine on shelves now and check out the full feature on Michelle and Andy’s home, and of course, the rest of the mag which is full of swoon-worthy design articles, tips and tricks.
I think tonight we will have a little celebration of my styling debut {any excuse really}. We’re also due to get some cracking weather here in Dublin, and I cannot wait to break out the picnic blanket and have some fun in le sun. It is long overdue.
Happy Friday, homies! 😉 xx A

Feature – House and Home

This year is already off to a smashing start, if I may be so bold. When we got home from our ‘civilized’ NYE party last week, I found this hot little number in our post box. It’s only just the January / February House and Home, for which yours truly has not only written a piece, but is a featured contributor on page six*. Mind = blown.

{Warning – a load of photos at a 45 degree angle below. I just couldn’t stop.}

I wrote up a six page spread featuring Stuart O’Sullivan’s incredibly eclectic Stoneybatter home. I was pretty excited to sit down and talk with Stuart as he is a fellow TK Maxx, Marks & Spencer, IKEA and charity shop stalker.

To find out more, you’re just going to have to check out the January / February issue, on the shelves today at your local newsstand for €3.85. Or even better, subscribe for a year and don’t miss a moment.

I’m also so happy to report that House and Home picked up two awards at the Irish Magazine Awards recently. Mad props to such a skilled gang. H&H is without fail Ireland’s top selling interiors magazine, and I couldn’t be more lucky to have been a part of it. Exponential amounts of winning.

*Not a page 3 type thing. Page six. We keep our tops on on page six. Real classy like.
