I want to ride my bicycle

Yesterday I got my hands on my new bicyclette {best said in a sad attempt at a French accent}, and I am sooo excited. I still can’t believe she is mine. Even as I sit here at my desk, I’m trying to schedule my day around a quick jaunt.
Over the past couple of weeks I had been pondering getting a myself a bike. Hubster already has one, so it made sense that I also jump on the wagon, as it were. It would be an investment, so I didn’t want to rush into it. I did my research and when I found the Dawes Duchess heritage lady bike in plum and gold with that little basket + matching handlebars and seat, I lost the plot. It was love at first bike. The colour may or may not have played a vital role. PLUM, people. C’mon!

I opted for a lady bike because 360 days of the year I’m either in a dress or a skirt. It’s a proper lady bike so there is no slouching over handlebars. Husband tried it out last night and he’s actually furiously jealous of how comfy she is. If I may be so bold, I think if a bicycle could be personified as me, this would be it. Comfy with a big seat.
I already have a little DIY in mind for the basket. Some skulls or black and white stripe ribbons are going to happen somewhere upon her vicinity, and of course, some faux hydrangeas for good measure. But for now, I’m off to hit the hills. Fingers crossed they’re to my favour.

Oh wow, it's just beautiful! And yes, very you, although I'm not endorsing your "big seat" part of that 😉 A bike with a comfy saddle is verrry important though, this looks the bizzness! Can't wait to see a photo of you on it!

I'll have to pluck up an awful amount of courage to get a picture of me on it. Maybe, just maybe …

Thanks Janine! I've had some pretty sweet and some scary Dublin city centre encounters so far. Practice makes perfect.

That bike is definitely very you! It looks really nice. I won't say I'm jealous, because I'm not keen on bike riding or any form or exercise – haha… I'm lazy!
I am jealous of the fact you wear skirts or dresses most of the time, though… how ladylike!! I tend to veer towards jeans but I should mix it up!

I like sneaky exercise. I used to jog 2-3 times a week, but once I got married and the pressure was off, I stopped and got fat. I'm now trying to get back into exercise, without letting my brain know.

Oh it's cool! I borrowed my dad's bike and brought it up to our new house, it is a mountain bike and the seat is not comfy to say the least. We have so many hills and corners around here that I find cycling for leisure is difficult, most do it on racer bikes for fitness but I'm more a leisurely user! Now your bike I would like!! The basket is really handy too.

    All things nice…

Oh, you should get a lady bike! But as you say, I'm not sure how practical it would be for where you live. The basket is soooo handy. And also encourages me to see how much I can cram in it 😉

The bike is exquisite. Would you have a 20's hat and a floaty white skirt in broderie anglaise?
