One year in

To add to my ongoing love affair with autumn, this year, October is extra special. Exactly one year ago today, husband and I tied the knot. Neither of us can believe a year has already passed, and we’re still weirdly in disbelief. Tonight we’re heading back to Dunboyne Castle where we got married, and spending a romantic evening drinking lots of wine. I took a trip yesterday and got my hands on some of our wedding cake especially for today. You see, we didn’t get a hugely ornate cake for our wedding. We both adore carrot cake, so we ordered a massive cake from Manning’s Bakery {Homer drool sound}. So whenever we want, we can sneak to our local bakery and pick up a slice or two. Or four slices. And then accidentally eat two slices for breakfast and tell your husband you only bought two slices like what I’m going to have to do today. Oops.
For our first anniversary we stuck to the tradition of paper. Well, I did at least. I got husband tickets to one of our favourite comedians, and a card too. However, it took me about 45 minutes to write on it because I was crying so hard {good tears}. I closely resembled Alice Cooper by the time I finished writing.
I’m always interested to hear other people’s traditions, so all the lovey couples out there – do you have your own anniversary traditions? And do you follow the ‘wedding anniversary rules‘? xx A

Happy Anniversary to you both!! I honestly don't know how it can have been a year ago??!! I remember reading about all your wedding prep – the tea favours, etc… – surely it was only a few months ago… scary how quick time goes! Have a lovely time celebrating – and good work on the carrot cake breakfast sneakery! Cake for breakfast – it's the way life should be… xx

Thank you Maria. I know, it has absolutely flown by! We still cannot believe it's been a year. And I'm sorrily paying for indulging in so much cake. I ended up eating MOAR later. I'm such a pig.

Congratulations, the year flies by. We didn't really celebrate our 1st anniversary this year as we were both working but all the lovely memories flooded back. We had a sponge, biscuit and fruit wedding cake, I'm not a big cake person so hardly took any of it. Your wedding photos are beautiful.

    All things nice…

Thank you! I think if we hadn'tve gotten married in a hotel, we would have probably celebrated at home as well. Ain't nothing wrong with that. And happy anniversary to you too!

    I suck.
I accidentally deleted your comment from my blog.
I was going to respond that with a thank you, and that hopefully you some some of the supplementary photos on FB. Oi… I suck.
Feel free to repost if you want. I will be more careful this time.

whooo hooo a year sure does fly by when your having fun. Sounded like you had a gorgeous weekend away too the both of you. I had a wee smile when I read your comment on my blog, we are indeed lucky ladies to have such wonderful hubbies. DH and I started off following the anniversary gifts but two years ago we stopped and said we would buy a joint present. This year we both were secretive and got each other a present lol. Mine was more sentimental to us as a couple but it had the same effect on him as it did with the earrings he got me. I got DH a song lyric graphically designed and then framed. The song was one we both listened to when we started dating..

Such a lovely and thoughtful idea Janine. And yes, we are so thoroughly spoiled from our mans. Hubster didn't really abide by the rules this year – he got me black Swarovski Crystal earings and a necklace. Black, like my soul. xx
